Pawleys Island

Rita Francis Riordan, age 83, passed away Sunday, February 7, 2010 at home surrounded by her family. Born August 10, 1926 in Nanticoke, PA, she was the daughter of Stella and Anthony Krynick, Sr. She was predeceased by her brother, Anthony Krynick, Jr. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Thomas Riordan; her daughter, Sharon Calderone and her husband John of Hammonton, NJ; two sons, Michael Riordan and his wife Rose and Patrick Riordan both of Pawleys Island. In addition, she is also survived by her sister in law, Carole Krynick of Bridgeton, NJ and many nieces and nephews in MD, VA, PA and NJ. Mrs. Riordan owned her own hair salon in Bridgeton, NJ for over 30 years. After moving to Pawleys Island, she and her husband were instrumental in helping their sons start and run Plantation Services Garden Center in Pawleys Island. She was a savvy business woman, a wonderful friend, but most significantly a devoted wife and loving mother. A mass of Christian burial will be said at 11:00 AM Thursday, February 11, 2010 at Precious Blood of Christ Catholic Church with Father Pat Stenson officiating. Inurnment will follow at the church columbarium. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church narthex.
