
Conway-..Joseph "Joe" Charles Valder, age 84, of Wofford Lane, died Sunday, February 7, 2010 at his residence.
Mr. Valder was born November 16, 1925 in Hollis, New York to Joseph Earl Valder and Katherin Wilkins Valder. He was married to "Dot" for 65 years. They met while serving in the Navy during World War II. Mr. Valder was a quarter master and she was a naval nurse. They had 2 children. He became very active with the Shrine and was Potentate in 1988 for Omar Shrine Temple in Mt. Pleasant. Also was Director General Emeritus for the South Atlantic Association. Mr. Valder became very active in supporting Happy Days for 25 years for the children who attended the camp every year in July. He also belonged to Waccamaw Shrine Club and other Shrine Clubs in the area. Mr. Valder will be missed by his family and Masonic Brothers. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandi Valder.
Surviving in addition to his wife for 65 years are one son, Joseph Michael Valder and wife Willa Mae Norton Valder of Myrtle Beach; 2 grandchildren; 1 great-granchild; one brother, Earl Valder and wife Miriam of Franklin Square, NY; one sister, Katherin Bonner and husband Clayton of Tuscan, AZ; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday at Christ the Servant Lutheran Church with Rev. Marion Brazell and Jack Knight officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
