Howell Arthur (Dave) Davis, Jr.

Retired Army Major Howell A. Davis, Jr. age 97, of Covenant Towers, died Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at Grand Strand Health Care.

Mr. Davis was born on December 9, 1912 in Hudson, NY, son of Howell Humphrey and Fredia Spath Davis. He retired from the Army in 1957 after more than 28 years of service having served in WWII with the office of Strategic Services in China, Burma and India. After WWII he served in Germany and Italy and at the time of his retirement he was an advisor to the Taiwanese Army in Taiwan. Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his first wife, Genevieve R. Davis.

Survivors include his wife, Edith H. Davis of Myrtle Beach and step-daughter, Sandra Curry also of Myrtle Beach.

A mass of Christian burial will be held 8:45 AM Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at Fort Meyer Chapel in Arlington National Cemetery. Burial with full military honors will follow in Arlington National Cemetery.
