Ada Hearl

Myrtle Beach--Ada Owens Hearl, 73, wife of Joseph Walter Hearl, passed away Friday, August 14, surrounded by her family. Born March 2, 1936 in Myrtle Beach, she was the daughter of the late John William Owens and Edith Elizabeth Bellamy, and the step-daughter of the late Wilson Don Owens. The retired director of The Village Nursery and Busy Bodies Child-Care Center of Myrtle Beach, she was affectionately known as "Miss Ada" by hundreds of young boys and girls that were entrusted to her care over the years, and "Saint Ada" by her extended family for her loving care of Don and Edith in their later years. The family would like to extend special thanks to InCare Hospice, in particular Laurie Bond, Margie Smith, Cynthia Mazyck, Beth Edwards and Jeff Wallace, for the exceptional care provided over the past several weeks; Dr. Terry Belden and his staff; and to the MUSC Heart & Vascular Center and its heart transplant team, which made it possible for Ada to enjoy an additional 15 years of life with her family and loved ones. Survivors, including her husband of 60 years, are two daughters, Maxine Prater, and Gladys Knuesel and husband, Hugo; and a son, Vern Hearl, all of Myrtle Beach; a daughter-in-law, Harriet Ramseur Hearl, of Conway; a brother, James T. Owens and wife, Kathy, of Isle of Palms, SC; grandchildren Ashley Abdelrazeq and husband, Feras, of Asheville, NC, Brett Blizzard and wife, Josephine, Brian Prater, and Kyle Johnson and wife, Courtney, all of Myrtle Beach; great-grandchildren Gracie and Hunter Dusenbury, Faith and Hope Blizzard and Kaelin Jo Johnson, all of Myrtle Beach; and several nieces and nephews. Ada was predeceased by her son, Ricky Hearl. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Monday at Goldfinch Funeral Home with Pastor Ken Scheiderer of Bible Baptist Church and Chaplain Jeff Wallace officiating. Interment will follow in Ocean Woods Memorial Cemetery in Myrtle Beach. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Sunday at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel.
