Agnes Rita Deep

Agnes Rita Deep, age 79, passed away peacefully at home with her family on Saturday, August 7, 2010. Born in Chicago, Illinois to Marie Schulgen Vinopal and Charles Vinopal, Agnes attended Chicago schools and completed her nurse's training at St. Bernard's Hospital in Chicago in 1950. She married Sgt. Anthony P. "Tony" Deep of Cohoes, New York on May 9, 1953. They lived in Illinois, California, Ohio, and Spain before they moved to Myrtle Beach with their family in 1962, when Sgt. Deep was stationed at Myrtle Beach Air Force Base. Mrs. Deep had a rewarding career as a registered nurse at Ocean View Memorial Hospital and Grand Strand Regional Medical Center, where she was the recipient of the Dr. Frist Humanitarian Award in 1992. She retired in 1993. Mrs. Deep's greatest pleasure during her retirement was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed reading, doing needlework, playing Scrabble, and volunteering with Meals on Wheels, Caring 4 Kids, and the Grand Strand Humane Society. She was a great animal lover who rescued many cats and dogs over the years. Agnes Deep is survived by her children, Rosemarie (Jeff) Ostler of Eugene, OR, William Deep of Myrtle Beach, Carolyn (John) Magnotta of New Egypt, NJ, Robert (Ann Marie) Deep of Sumter, SC, and Suzanne (Shannon) Toole of Myrtle Beach, as well as eight grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, James (Helen) Vinopal of Chicago, Il, and many other family and friends who will miss her dearly. Her husband Tony died in 1997 and another brother, Robert Vinopal, died in 1996. The family will receive friends from 6 pm to 8 pm on Tuesday, August 10, at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel, with a prayer vigil at 7:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at St. Michael Catholic Church in Garden City at 10:00 am on Wednesday, August 11, 2010 with Father Ray Carlo officiating.
