Conway...Allen Barnhill, 80, husband of 50 years to the late Betty Marlene Chavis Barnhill, passed away Sat. Feb. 25, 2012 at his residence. Mr. Barnhill was born on Sept. 28, 1931 in Horry County to the late William Melton Barnhill and Sadie Ola Allen Barnhill and was raised by mother Margaret Britton Barnhill. Mr. Barnhill worked for 62 years as a truck driver for Lewis Trucking, Stilley Plywood, Reaves Enterprise and Homewood Steel. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and a wonderful friend full of laughs. He was known for his outspoken personality and sense of humor. Survivors include: 2 sons, Robert "Bobby" Barnhill and wife Shirley of Conway, Jeffrey Barnhill and wife Joette of Cheraw. 3 granddaughters Tracy Jones and husband Joe Brown of Conway, Chavis Barnhill and Katherine Barnhill, both of Cheraw. 2 great granddaughters Suzanne Martin and Jessica Martin, both of Galivants Ferry. 1 great grandson Joseph Brown, Jr. of Conway. 2 step granddaughters Michelle Gill Sanders of Wisconsin, Shannon Gill of Conway. 5 step great grandchildren: Kevin Nendza and Braeliegh Sanders, both of Wisconsin, Joshua Bugla, Alexis Bugla and Matthew Tyler, Jr. all of Conway. 1 brother Robert Ellerbe Barnhill and wife Nena of Pelzer. 3 sisters Orine Barnhill Richardez and husband Cuit of Windham, CT, Mary Barnhill Prince of Murrells Inlet and Virginia Barnhill Hucks and husband Charles of Conway. A number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Barnhill was preceded in death by: 1 daughter Susan Nunette Barnhill Jones. 3 sisters Margaret Barnhill Ivey, Geneva Barnhill Hardee and Linda Barnhill Proctor. 1 brother W.M. "Dub" Barnhill. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday from Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel with the Rev. Albert Ivey officiating. Burial will follow in the Poplar United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial gifts may be sent to Mercy Hospice, P.O.
