Audrey N. Tournillon, age 88, beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away peacefully October 17, 2023, with family by her side. Audrey was born on February 19, 1935, in New Orleans, LA, daughter of the late Nicholas Charles Nicosia and Bernice Thiery Nicosia. She was preceded in death by her sister Bernice (Nicosia) Trigg and survived by her brother Charles Nicosia. Born and raised in New Orleans, LA she attended Holy Name of Jesus High School, met and married her husband of 66 years, Nicholas B. Tournillon, who survives her. The two spent a long rich life together traveling the world and raising their six children. Audrey was the embodiment of pure love and the focus of her love was her family. She was the extraordinary mother to her six children. She was preceded in death by her eldest son Brady Tournillon of Stamford, CT; and survived by Linda Kenney (Ron Kline) of Martinez, CA; Tracy Verdon (Ken Verdon) of Conway, SC; Jeff Tournillon (Suzy) of Chicago, IL; Greg Tournillon (Janis) of Chesterfield, MO and Lori McCloskey (Matthew McCloskey) of Stanhope, NJ. Loving grandmother of six: Sean Kenney (Ellen); Dana Verdon; Nicholas Verdon; Amanda Tournillon, Kyle Tournillon, Callie Tournillon. Great grandmother to Nora Catherine Kenney. In addition to her immediate family, Audrey will be incredibly missed and remembered by her beloved extended family, nieces, nephews, sister-in-law, godchildren and all New Orleans relatives. Audrey was a lifelong practicing catholic, and current parishioner of St. James Parish in Conway, South Carolina. She was previously an active member/parishioner of St. Mary Parish in Greenwich, Connecticut. Her catholic roots stem from her parents and her upbringing in the catholic school system as a child. She further fostered her catholic faith through the teaching of religious education. During her 40 years living in Connecticut, Audrey fostered her faith and demonstrated her commitment to an underlying belief that we are put on this earth to help and serve others in the name of God. She was a big proponent of volunteerism and put her words into action. For over 25 years, she volunteered for the Greenwich Hospital gift shop as a lead buyer and steered the seasonal direction of merchandise. In addition, she took great pride in her volunteering activities with Greenwich Garden Club, St. Mary’s Church and Greenwich Newcomers Club. It is through these organizations and others where she made life-long friends. She loved meeting new people and was incredibly engaging. People often felt immediately at ease in her presence and loved to sit and talk with her. She enjoyed spending time with many friends in Greenwich and now Conway, including the entertaining and welcoming Conway Senior Center and with her neighbors and exceptional staff at Brookdale Conway. Audrey loved all kinds of animals and nature and loved spending time outdoors. She found endless joy in her family’s dogs and had her own special bound and daily traditions with each of those dogs (they too miss her). She found incredible peace and tranquility watching birds and marveled at their flight. Audrey cherished life, laughter and loved ones. Nothing pleased her more than being with her large family that always provided a great sense of joy and happiness. This was, in fact, her greatest joy. A funeral mass will be held at St James Church in Conway on Tuesday October 31, 2023 at 12:00 pm with a reception to follow. Her final resting place will be in Greenwich, Ct alongside her son, Brady.
