Barbara Jean Hanniford Pate, 83, of Conway, SC passed away peacefully in her home on January 20, 2021. Bobbie was born in Kingstree, SC on June 9, 1937, daughter of the late Eugene H. Hanniford and Thelma A. Thomas Hanniford. She attended McClenaghan High School in Florence, SC before marrying Lewis C. Pate in 1954. The couple soon started a family and settled in their long-time hometown of Conway, SC. Well known for her generous and thoughtful nature, Bobbie touched many lives as a Girl Scout Troop Leader and as an employee at the A&P grocery store. She found her true work home, however, when she began working as a teller for the Conway National Bank in 1976, ultimately retiring as a Senior Customer Service Representative in 2009. Bobbie had a passion for gardening, travel, bird watching, and collecting everything from coins to Christmas trees. She always instinctively knew if you were sick and needed soup and never missed an opportunity to send a card. Bobbie's unconditional love for her family and friends was apparent in everything she did, and she was lovingly referred to as "our angel on Earth." She is predeceased by her brother, William "Billy" Hanniford and her nephew, Christopher Hanniford. Bobbie is survived by her husband, Calvin Pate; her brother, Ronnie Hanniford (Cindy); sister-in-law, Sherry Hanniford; daughters, Mandy Pate and Carolyn Erickson (Fred); her bonus daughter, Denise Squires; granddaughters, Shannon Henson (Allan), Kristen Dutka (Adam), Emily Kirkley (Brandon); grandson, Mark Erickson (Sarah); great grandchildren, Calista Anderson, Morgan Taylor, Emily Henson, Kailey Dutka, Charlotte Dutka and Jude Kirkley, and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
