Billie Jeanne Shyptycki James, 91, of North Myrtle Beach, passed away peacefully at her home on August 15, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Billie Jeanne was born July 5, 1931 in Louisville, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Thomas Hinton and Ruby Long Hinton. In addition to her parents, Billie Jeanne was preceded in death by her sons James B. Woods and John T. Woods; her grandchildren Amy Bendfelt, Jeremy Sopa and Robert Woods Jr.; her sister Carol Creed; and her nieces Elizabeth Davidson and Holly Hinton. In life, Billie Jeanne had the most important job in the world, being a Mom and Granny. She loved her family more than anything. Billie Jeanne was also a gifted poet and her poem “On The Wings of a Dove” was published by the National Library of Poetry. After losing her son in the Vietnam conflict, she became very passionate about spreading everlasting peace and love to all in the world. She played an instrumental role in getting June 5 proclaimed as National Peace Day. Billie Jeanne was a kind and loving mother, an eloquent poet and a stunning actress. Billie Jeanne is survived by a large and loving family; including her devoted children Gail Woods, Karen Darling, Bobby Woods, Joy Nebel, Jill Lardner, Jimmy Backer, Genevieve Malekos and Khristian Marsh; her dear siblings Tom Hinton, Betty Davidson and Bobby Hinton; and of course, her adoring 17 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 6 nieces, 6 nephews, and countless friends. A funeral service will be held locally on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Goldfinch Funeral Home in Carolina Forest (325 Hinson Drive, Myrtle Beach, SC 29579). The family will receive friends during a visitation from 10:00 AM until the service begins. The service will be officiated by Rev. Darren Squires. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Billie Jeanne’s honor to “Seeds of Peace” (www.seedsofpeace.org) and help continue her mission of spreading peace and love throughout the world. Friends are also invited to join the family at Carraba’s Italian Grill (1015 US Hwy 17 N., North Myrtle Beach, SC 29582) at 3:00 PM on Saturday, August 20, 2022, where they will host a Celebration of Life gathering and meal for Billie Jeanne and continue to share stories and happy memories and celebrate her life. Following the local funeral services, Billie Jeanne will journey north to New York where she will be laid to rest with her son at Long Island National Cemetery. Interment will be coordinated by Hawkins & Davis Funeral Home of Smithtown, NY. Details for funeral services in New York will be announced by the family at a later date.
