Conway… Mrs. Carolyn Floyd, age 75, passed away on Friday, October 25, 2024, surrounded by her family. Born March 14, 1949, in Millen, GA, she was the daughter of the late, Wilbur and Mary Turner Cail. Mrs. Floyd was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she served on the Staff Parish Relations Committee. Mrs. Floyd was a graduate of Coastal Carolina College where she earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education in 1978 and a master's degree in early childhood education in 1982. She also served as a "teacher in residence" at CCU and was the head instructor of the CCU Critical Needs Program for four years, which she wrote and directed from its creation. She retired from Horry County School District after 28 years where she worked as the principal of both Socastee Elementary and Aynor Elementary. Mrs. Floyd served as President of the Conway Garden Club Council for 2015-2017, Coastal District Director of the Garden Club of SC for 2022-2023, and President of the Camellia Garden Club for 2023-2024. In her spare time, Mrs. Floyd enjoyed reading, writing, and gardening. She developed her love of gardening from her Grandmother, Emma Lou. Along with her parents, Mrs. Floyd was predeceased by one son, Kenneth Floyd, and one brother, Johnny Cail. Surviving are her husband of 55 years, Merrell W. Floyd of Conway; two sons, Richard Steven Floyd (Carrie) and David Floyd (Michelle), all of Conway; six grandchildren, Trevor Floyd, Savannah Floyd, Cailyn Floyd, James Floyd, Bryce Grainger (McKayla), and Worth Floyd. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Bill McCown officiating. Committal services will be private. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 5:00 PM-7:00 PM at the funeral home.
