Catherine Mary Cecilia Milano was called to heaven at the age of 96 on December 21, 2023, while at home with loved ones and under the protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary. She was one of twelve children, born in Staten Island, New York, on December 5, 1927, to Cecilia and Harry Marshall. She worked as a secretary for the U.S. Navy during wartime where she met her late husband Louis Peter Milano. Catherine and Louis raised their six children in New Jersey. She worked at Roosevelt Hospital and as a home health aide for various elderly people and those in the Veterans Home in Menlo Park, New Jersey. She retired at the age of 78, with her last job as a hallway monitor at the high school of her granddaughters in New Jersey. Catherine spent the last ten years of her life in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She will remain the queen of our hearts and is survived by her loving children: Gerald Milano and his wife Maryann, Kathleen Fuoco, Theresa Orosz, Carol Mineo, Louis Milano and his wife Rita, and Debra Grant. She leaves behind beautiful memories with her nine grandchildren: Christopher Milano and his wife Lisa, Jennifer Ballard and her husband Josh, Tara Hnida and her husband Steve, Michael Milano, Carolyn Mineo and her husband Josie, Catherine Mineo, Joseph Milano and his wife Laura, Christina Crawford and her husband Tyler, and Zachary Grant. Her legacy will carry on with her six great grandchildren: Alexis Milano, Alyson Milano, Julia Ballard, Stephen Hnida IV, Jonathan Milano, and Christopher Hnida. She will be deeply missed by her beloved, furry four-legged baby, Queenie, named after her sister. If you knew her as Catherine, Cathy, Mom, Mama, Grandma, Gram, Grams, Gramcracker, Great Grandma, or The Warden — you know the ways we can continue to honor her: Eat endless amounts of chocolate with no guilt; Lock your doors while driving (be VERY aware of your surroundings!) and Listen to Charlotte Church during the Christmas holiday. A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church (1100 8th Ave North, North Myrtle Beach, SC 29582) on Friday, January 19 at 11:00 AM. Following the mass and also on Friday, January 19, the family will receive friends and visitors during an informal Celebration of Life from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Goldfinch Funeral Home of Carolina Forest (325 Hinson Drive, Myrtle Beach, SC 29579).
