Horan, Claire Ann (maiden name Mallas), 73, a resident since 2018 of Conway, South Carolina, passed away on Monday, October 23, 2023. Claire was formerly from Colonia, New Jersey, where she resided most of her life. Claire was a kind, loving, thoughtful, generous, and good natured person who valued family and friendships. She was our rock especially in trying times. She was smart and talented and took special pleasure in crocheting blankets for many, cooking and baking for all kinds of occasions and specialized in creating wedding cakes. She managed a local candy store, making many of the items for sale; worked in banking as an auxiliary employee, and worked for Nielsen Company doing data collection of retail grocery stores. Claire was an active member of St. Thomas the Apostle Byzantine Church, Rahway, New Jersey, where she catered. She was preceded in death by her eldest son Billy, her older brother Paul, and her mom and dad, Mary and Paul Mallas. She is survived by her loving husband William J. Horan; her sons Jeffrey and his wife Jana and Daniel Sr and his wife Chrissy; and seven grandchildren (aka Grammyof7): Caitlin, James and fiance' Tori Jackson, Sean, Liam, Patrick, Daniel Jr, and Lily; brother Frank Mallas and wife Sophia Demas; sister Mary Carol Mallas Howard; nephews Paul and Kyle Mallas; nieces Rachel, and Sarah Mallas, Emily Howard Staub, and Molly Howard Ison, and two grand nephews and eight grand nieces; extended Barnick family in Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania; and special friends Donna Hardgrove, Patty Lovgrin, and Rose Watkins, and many others. A Celebration of Life for Claire is being held Saturday, October 28, 2023, at 11a.m. at Goldfinch Funeral Home, 606 Beaty St., Conway, SC., officiated by Pastor Josh Finklea. Claire's cremated remains will be interred with her son Billy in the Spring at the family plot at the St. Gertrude's Cemetery, Colonia, New Jersey. The exact date will be announced when it is determined. All are welcome to join in on her celebration of life.
