Murrells Inlet Clare Rebecca Lawing, age 74, died Saturday, November 1, 2014 at Waccamaw Community Hospital. Born in Charlotte, NC she was the daughter of the late Pete and Margaret Lawing. Mrs. Lawing was a loving mother and grandmother who loved the beach and dancing The Shaq. A very social person, she considered her friends her family. Mrs. Lawing was preceded in death by her daughter, Kimrey and her grandson, Christopher. Clare would like to let you know that her work here is done. She received a call, a sort of an offer you can't refuse, for an appointment from which she will not be returning. This assignment comes with a huge sign-on bonus, a reunion with family and friends she has not seen in a long time. Job security is 110 percent. Her new mission takes her to a wonderful place where she will be socializing, dancing, and gardening to her heart's content. Music, laughter and love are guaranteed. Food is delicious and you never gain an ounce. She left detailed instructions for her family and friends to celebrate her mission here, which has now been completed. A beautiful garden now stands alone, missing the one who nurtured it. But now she is gone, her flowers still bloom and the sun it still shines. But the rain is like tear drops, for the ones left behind. The weeds lay waiting to take the gardens beauty away, but the beautiful memories of its keeper are in our hearts to stay. She loved every flower, even some that were weeds. So much love she would plant, with each little seed. But just like her flowers, she was part of God's plan, so when it was her time, He reached down His hand. He looked through the garden, searching for the best, that's when He found Clare, it was her time to rest. It is hard for those who love her, to just let her go, but God has a spot in His garden, that needed a gentle soul. So when you start missing Clare, remember if you just wait, when God has a spot in His garden, she'll meet you at the gate. Survivors include her daughters, Tiffany (David) Quick, Murrells Inlet; Penny Quick, NC; Angela Barker, NC; brothers, Mike (Kay) Lawing, NC; Ron (Doris) Lawing, NC; grandchildren, Roman, GA; Kendall, GA; Christian, NC and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 7:00 PM Thursday, November 6, 2014 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel.
