Constance Vivian Sharpe Reddington, wonderful mother and Nana, dog mom, animal lover, avid golfer and skier, good time sally and all around fun lady, passed away surrounded by those she loved most on January 9, 2023. Connie was the proud daughter of Christina and Earle Sharpe, raised in Canaan, NY, along with her brothers Earle Jr. and Kenneth, and sister Dorothy. Fondly recalling growing up close to Quechee Lake, she found joy in sharing stories of skiing on the back hills, tending to the animals on their small farm, listening to her grandfather “Poppy” play his banjo on the porch, and gathering with friends to have way too much fun at the Red Inn. Married for 32 years, Connie and her husband John Reddington started their family in the suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio where they formed several lifelong friendships. A brief relocation to Birmingham, Michigan was followed by an opportunity to move to the Boston area, where they lived in Andover, MA for twenty years and raised their three daughters. Connie was an active member of the town’s nonprofit community organization Andona, a frequent volunteer in the Andover schools and a volunteer at Lawrence General Hospital. An avid golfer, Connie belonged to Indian Ridge Country Club where she played recreationally and in tournaments, cultivating many friendships along the way. She also loved to ski with her daughters and was the first to pull out their gear when fresh snow was in the forecast. Throughout the years, Connie supported her daughters in everything they did, spending countless hours at swim meets, horseback riding lessons, ski races and football games. Later, she loved being on the sidelines to watch her grandkids play soccer and baseball. She was a Boston sports fan to the core, cheering at the TV for nearly every Celtics game of the 1980’s heyday, encouraging her kids to go to Sox games and cheering on the Patriots every year. After Andover, Connie lived in Nashua, NH, Glendale, AZ, and Charlotte, NC before settling in Myrtle Beach, SC in 1996, arriving just in time to learn that she would be a grandmother for the first time. Connie lived close to her daughter Stacey, son-in-law Joe and grandson Bowen for the rest of her days, enjoying holidays together, special occasions, mother-daughter golf outings and visits to her favorite places like Brookgreen Gardens and Surfside Beach. An avid dog lover and rescue advocate, Connie had several dogs through the years, including her constant sidekick Sonny, followed by Gizzy, who now lives happily with her daughter’s family. A gifted painter, Connie shared her creativity by encouraging it in her children and grandchildren. She let her kids get dirty, loved listening to any kind of music, and opened the door to friends old and new. Those who knew Connie had the good fortune to spend time with a funny, free-spirited mom and friend who loved to laugh and welcomed anyone into her home, from her daughters’ friends to the entire neighborhood for holiday parties. Connie leaves in love her daughters Christine Sagebiel of Sun City West AZ, Stacey Cotter of Surfside Beach, SC and Karen Reddington Sackowitz of Wilton, CT; her son-in-law Joe Cotter; grandchildren Bowen Cotter of Surfside Beach, SC, Noah Sackowitz of Wilton, CT and Alyssa Sackowitz of Wilton, CT, and Ashton Hyman of Surfside, SC; and former husband John Reddington of Surfside, SC. Connie’s family is honoring her wishes with a small private ceremony. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any local humane society or animal shelter.
