Corky Thrasher

Conway……….R. "Corky" Thrasher, age 83, died Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at Conway Manor following a long illness. \tMr. Thrasher was born in Buford, Georgia, a son of the late Luther and Ada Burden Thrasher. He was valedictorian of his class in 1942 in Garden City, Alabama. He was a member of First United Methodist Church where he was a former Sunday School teacher for the Hut Bible Class for 33 years. Prior to retirement, he was the mail carrier for Horry Georgetown Technical College from 1982 until 2005 when health reasons caused him to retire. He enjoyed his work there, never taking any time off. He made many life long friends and was sincerely loved by all that knew him. He was much loved and appreciated by his wife and step children. He loved, treasured, and looked forward to their visits. Mr. Thrasher was predeceased by his first wife, Eleanor Hart Thrasher, five brothers, Leonard Thrasher, Rubert Thrasher, Grady Thrasher, Travis Thrasher and Curtiss Thrasher and three sisters, Madgie Thrasher, Alpha Thrasher, and Mabel Thrasher. \tSurviving are: his wife, Rena Lewis Thrasher of Conway; one son, Kevan Thrasher of Conway; one stepson, Willie Roberts and his wife Lois of Conway; two step daughters, Hilda Williamson and her husband Henry and Susie Johnson and her husband Johnny, all of Conway; two grandchildren, Jennie Thrasher and Jason Thrasher of Conway; four step-grandchildren, Heath Causey of Myrtle Beach, Heather Causey of Wilmington, NC, Steven Williamson of Socastee, and Michael Williamson of Orangeburg, SC; a beloved nephew and niece, Sid Thrasher of Morehead City, NC and Carolyn Nobles of Florola, Ala. \tFuneral services will be held at 4:00 PM Thursday from First United Methodist Church with Rev. Carl Harris officiating.
