Tributes

David, "Dave", "Pete" Sandel, life ended enjoying time with his family. Born in Allentown, Pennsylvania, Dave grew up in many cities in the United States. Before attending Roberts Wesleyan College in North Chili, NY, Dave held the track record at North Plainfield Senior High School for many years. Upon graduating Roberts, Dave attended NY Biblical Seminary and New York University. On June 12th, 1954, he wedded. Charlotte B. Williams, his bride of nearly 56years. They were residents of North Tonawanda, NY for 33 years. He was a very active member of the North Tonawanda community, by volunteering with the Boys Club, organized and directed the Youth Intramural Bowling Council, and served 12 years as the 3rd Ward Alderman to the City of North Tonawanda. Of those 12 years, he served 8 years as the Common Council President. Dave and Char shared their love of God by being very active members of the Nash Road Free Methodist Church while residing in N. Tonawanda. Dave taught 31 years at North Tonawanda Senior High School as the Social/Economics Teacher. He was very loved and respected by his students. Several continue to serve in the N. Tonawanda Community learning their trade from the best. Upon retiring as a teacher, he and his wife Charlotte, moved to Surfside Beach in 1990. He enjoyed many hours on the golf course and beach with family and friends. He and Charlotte were active members of Surfside United Methodist Church. Dave is preceded in death by his son, James Michael Sandel. Dave is survived by his wife, Charlotte B. â€˜Williams" Sandel, Two sons, David John Sandel and his wife Carol "Jolimay" Sandel of Campbell, California. Paul Lyman Sandel and his wife Kathy "Hoppis" Sandel of Charlotte, NC. Eight Grandchildren, David W. Sandel of Norfolk, VA; Daniel and his wife Monica Sandel of San Jose, CA; Dennis Sandel of Campbell, CA; Christopher and Kelli Sandel of Charlotte, NC; Eric and April Sandel of Buffalo, NY; Kristina and her husband Matthew Arcand serving our Armed Services at Fort Bragg, NC. One great-grandson, David Michael Sandel of Norfolk, VA. Memorial Services will be held at Surfside United Methodist Church on Saturday, April 10th at 2pm. In lieu of flowers the family request donations to be given to Surfside United Methodist Church at P.O.
