David Graham Scott age 80, died Friday, May 8, 2015 at Tidelands Community Hospice House. David was born on October 12, 1934 in Boston, Massachusetts to Helen Graham and Clifford Scott. He was raised in New Hampshire by his foster father Woolsey Hopkins and lived on Abbott Hill, Wilton NH. He graduated from Wilton High School class of 1952. He was a graduate of the University of New Hampshire in 1960 with a degree in Civil Engineering. David was on active duty in the U.S. Army Engineers from 1955-58 stationed in Germany. He was a driver and radio operator and technician for field maneuvers for the Radio Unit and received the rank of Sargeant. He loved being in Germany and participated in rebuilding during peacetime. He was a member of the U.S. Army Reserve from 1958-1963. David served as professional Planner for the cities of San Diego, CA, Syracuse, NY and Laconia, NH. He received his Masters in Community Planning for the University of Rhode Island in 1971. He served as Executive Director, Lakes Regional Planning Commission for 11 years and Director of Policy Planning, Office of Comprehensive Planning for the State of New Hampshire until he retired in 1995. David was active in many community initiatives, including the Building Committee for the new Gilford Middle High School, Gilford, NH in the early 1970's. He loved anything to do with family, watching soccer, traveling, music, playing golf, sailing where he served on the Yacht Racing Committee at the Winnipesaukee Yacht Club during the 1980's , gardening and the beach at Pawleys Island. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Donna Gayle Rogers Scott; children, Karen Scott and her husband John Taylor of Plainfield, VT , Dawn Robbins and her husband Mark of Oakview, CA and David Scott, II and his wife Emily of Coralville, Iowa. As per his wishes, there will be no calling hours. A private family ceremony and internment will take place at the Cathedral of the Pines in Rindge, NH later this summer.
