GREENFIELD, MA……. Debra (Horta) Andrews, age 58, passed away unexpectedly March 23, 2024 in Murrells Inlet, SC. She was born December 13, 1965, in Fayetteville, NC, the daughter of Teresa (Shepard) Horta and the late Raymond Horta. As a teen, she moved with her family to Surfside Beach, SC., and graduated from Socastee High School in 1984. Debbie moved to Franklin County, Massachusetts in 1986 where she married and had a family. Debbie was outgoing, full of life, and had a heart of gold. She found joy in caring for others and making people laugh. She loved connecting with and helping people, especially through her work as a bartender, waitress, school and shuttle bus driver and a home health aide. She loved exploring and trying new things and had a gift for imagination and creativity. She loved crafting and making jewelry from shells found on the beach. Debbie enjoyed gardening and loved to share her crops of cucumbers, peppers and herbs with others. She was an amazing cook, and always looked forward to holidays and special family occasions when she could prepare her famous pineapple ham recipe. Debbie leaves an indelible mark on the many hearts she touched over the years, especially her two beloved sons, Jeffrey Andrews and his partner Natalie Krstyen of Greenfield, MA, and Jayson Andrews of Charlemont, MA., as well as her granddaughter Madeline. She also leaves her mother, Teresa Horta of Murrells Inlet, SC., two sisters Tari Grimard and Wendy Mullen and her husband Wayne of Turners Falls, MA, a brother, Mark Horta and his partner Paula Clemons of Murrells Inlet, SC. and several nieces, nephews, great nephews, and many close friends. Debbie also leaves her dog, Jewels, who brought her daily comfort, joy and companionship. She was predeceased by her father and sister, Brenda Horta Morris. A Memorial Service will be held 10:00 AM, Friday, April 12, 2024 at Saint Michael’s Catholic Church in Garden City. A celebration of life will be from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm, May 4, 2024 at the Mohawk Rambler's Clubhouse, Lake Pleasant Rd, Millers Falls, MA. Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel is assisting the family.
