Deraline West McAllister, 94, of Myrtle Beach, SC, passed peacefully at home, after a courageous battle with illness. Deraline was born March 27,1930 in Erwin, North Carolina. She graduated from Erwin High School in 1948. In 1962 she graduated from Rex Memorial School of Nursing as an LPN. With her nursing degree she worked at Adams Kinton Nursing Home in Lillington, NC, Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, NC and Brunswick Hospital in Supply, NC. She served as a School Nurse and Houseparent at Glade Valley High School in Sparta, NC. While at Moses Cone Hospital she became a Certified Operation Room Technician. Miss Deraline, as her church family loved to call her, was a member of Palmetto Pointe Church in Myrtle Beach. During her lifetime she was very active in serving in the church. She served in Ladies Ministries as President, Vice President, and Secretary. Before moving to Myrtle Beach she attended Highest Praise Church in Shallotte, NC where she sang in the choir and started the Young At Heart Ministry. She felt it was her duty to make sure everyone was greeted at church, especially newcomers. She was always ready to serve wherever she was needed. In her community, she was also very active. She loved sewing and crafting and was very active in the Home Extension of North Carolina Club. Miss Deraline was predeceased by her husband, Marshall Reid McAllister, her parents Zola E. West and Lillie W. West, her brothers Zola Paul, John Lewis and James Robert West, her sister Doris Lambert and two granddaughters Deborah Michelle and Krystal Deraline Brown. She was a loving mother to her two daughters, Rebecca Brown (Victor) and Deborah Carroll (James). A wonderful Mammaw to Jennifer Caudle (Dwayne), Jeremy Goodrum (Jen), Justin Goodrum (Sara), Heather Henderson (R J), Joshua Carroll (Jodee), and Daniel Carroll. Her family grew to 12 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren with another one on the way and she loved all of them. Most of all she loved the Lord Jesus Christ! She served Him faithfully. A celebration of her life will be Sunday, September 22nd at Palmetto Pointe Church, 2901 Fantasy Way, Myrtle Beach, SC. Visitation will be at 2pm and service will be at 3pm. Her pastor, Jamie Barfield, that she loved so much, will be officiating. Graveside service will be Monday, September 23, at 12:30 pm at Erwin Cemetery in Erwin, NC. Her Care Pastor, Cliff Ramsunder, will be officiating at the graveside.
