Donald L. Branton, age 86, passed away Friday, August 26, 2016 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Branton was born in Conway, SC, a son of the late Willie Joseph and Fleetwood Vereen Branton. In addition to his parents, Mr. Branton is also predeceased by his loving wife, Vickie Irene Parker Branton; his children; Willie Leo Branton, Donna Marie Branton, Donald Joseph Branton, two infant sons as well as two infant daughters. He is also predeceased by his sister, Evelyn Pricilla Branton Harris; a sister-in-law, Mary Doris Parker Holden; a brother-in-law, Thomas Clyde Parker. He was a member of Tilly Swamp Baptist Church. Mr. Branton was a devoted, loving husband and father. He was always there to assist his family and friends. He retired from the US Air Force in 1975 after specializing with the Titan II Missile Project. Technical Sergeant Branton was adored and respected by all of his colleagues. Mr. Branton is survived by his daughter/niece; Vickie Yvonne Holden Todd (Les); three granddaughters, Tonya Branton-Franklin (Jon), Laurie Branton Fitzhugh (Clayton) and Elizabeth Mull; two special grandsons, Dennis Micah Fowler and Patrick Boyd Fowler; six great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Julia Branton; a special nephew, Dennis W. Holden (Cathy) and their son, Bryan; his four sisters, Thelma Marie Branton Lewis, Jean Harriett Branton Hughes, Ethel Mae Branton Alford, Carolyn Barnhill Ballington (Ken); special lifelong friends, Frankie and Phillip Brand; and many nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly. A funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM Monday, August 29, 2016 at Tilly Swamp Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Altman officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service in the church.
