Edward Wornall Talbot, Jr. of Pawleys Island, SC died October 24, 2016 after a short battle with lung cancer. Ed was born July 15, 1945 and lived most of his early years in Charlotte, NC. He graduated from Clemson University and served in the Army Reserves. He married Cynthia McCoy while at Clemson and celebrated 50 years of marriage in May. Most of his career was spent with Bell South in Statesville, NC where he retired as a Construction Manager. Ed and Cynthia moved to Pawleys Island in 1997 where he worked for Bubba’s Landscaping for several years before opening Murrell's Inlet Small Engine Repair. Ed was a long time member of AA in Murrells Inlet/Pawleys Island where he touched many lives by loving, leading, and challenging men and women to live a life free from addictions and hang ups. Ed was greatly blessed by the fellowship, teaching, and inspiration at Pawleys Island Presbyterian Church where he and Cynthia have been members for many years. Ed loved his family and was the husband, father, big brother, eldest son, son in law, and grandfather that inspired everyone to love each other, to love others, and to treat everyone with respect and honor. In addition, he loved fishing and boating, traveling in his Travel Trailer with his wife and his beloved rescue dog Barney, and spending time with his children and grandkids. Ed is survived by his wife, Cynthia McCoy Talbot; his father, Edward W. Talbot, Sr.; his daughter, Shelley Pope of Clayton, NC and her husband Brian; his son, Brian Talbot of Raleigh, NC and his wife Tania; his sister, Susan Talbot; his brother, Mark Talbot and his wife Vicki; his grandchildren, Seth, Luke, and Jake Pope; and Tyler and Morgan Talbot. Ed was preceded in death by his mother Mary McCall Talbot. The family asks that you join us in celebrating the life of one who will be greatly missed by all who knew him! Services will be held on Thursday, October 27, at 2:00pm at Pawleys Island Presbyterian Church with a reception immediately following. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Pawleys Island Presbyterian Church or Caris Healthcare of Conway.
