Surfside Beach… Elaine Shelley, age 77, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2024. Mrs. Shelley was born in Conway, a daughter of the late Hubert James Roberts and the late Nettie Richardson Roberts. She served as a nurse for many years and also was the owner of Old Kings Highway Furniture in Murrells Inlet. Mrs. Shelley was a devoted Christian who always put others first. She had a servant's heart with a passion for taking care of her family and friends. Mrs. Shelley enjoyed traveling, gardening, and visiting Brookgreen Gardens. She was also very sociable and was interested in the lives of her friends and family. Mrs. Shelley was known for being "put together" and always looking her best when out in public. She was a tough woman who loved unconditionally and will be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, and sister. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Shelley was predeceased by her husband, Harlee Carol "Bill" Shelley; one brother, Doug Roberts; one sister, Geraldine "Gerri" Chestnut; and her partner, Bob Shelley. Survivors include her two sons, Hubert Coleman "Cole" Shelley (Fred Lewis) and Ashley Derek Shelley (Florence) all of Murrells Inlet; one daughter, Pattie Ellen Young (Scott) of Surfside Beach; five grandchildren, Hannah Elizabeth Shelley and Olivia Soteria Shelley both of Murrells Inlet; Harlee Lucas Young and Coleman Ashley "Cash" Young both of Surfside Beach; and Eileen Young of Ohio; one brother, Windell Roberts (Doris) of Conway; three sisters, Marionelle Johnson of Galivants Ferry, Judi Brooks (Eddie) of Conway, and Debbie Alford (John) of Galivants Ferry; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, May 3, 2024 at Mt. Herman Baptist Church with Rev. Donnie Graham and Rev. Jimmy Floyd officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the church and at other times at the home of her sister, Marionelle Johnson.
