Flora Mae Clayton, 77, returned to her heavenly home on May 24, 2015, surrounded by her loving family at Grand Strand Medical Center after a valiant battle with the effects from a stroke. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace. Her faith in God was steadfast and she lived her life accordingly. She was admired and loved by her family and friends and we thank God for sharing her with us. Even though she is dearly missed by her loved ones, they celebrate the fact that she is at peace with her creator. In addition to being a wonderful, loving wife, mother and grandmother she was a devoted member of Socastee Baptist Church. Flora was born in Pleasant Hill, SC on August 29, 1937 to Edna Port Cribb and Marvin Beauford Cribb, Sr.. She is predeceased by her parents, her husband, Bobby R. Clayton, who was the love of her life, her daughter, Cheryl Lynn Owens, her maternal grandparents, William Jervin Port and Adria Cribb Port, and her paternal grandparents, Stephen Nelson Cribb and Virginia Thompson Cribb. Flora was blessed with a large and loving family. She is survived by her three sons, Ronald (Annette) Owens of Georgetown, SC, Jimmy (Stephanie) Owens of Georgetown, SC, Will Owens of Myrtle Beach, SC, who blessed her life daily by being the best, most loving caregiver any parent could hope for, and her daughter, Tonya Clayton of Myrtle Beach, SC, who was also a wonderful source of comfort to her mother; her grandchildren, Jimmy Owens, Laura (Ryan) Ammons of Georgetown, SC, Williams Brice Clayton of Myrtle Beach, SC, Hilary Ray, Matthew and Patrick Ray, all of Georgetown, SC; one great grandson, Owen Ray of Georgetown, SC; four sisters Elizabeth Elliott of Georgetown, Edna (Larry) Yarborough of Murrells Inlet, SC, Wanda (David) Bass of Murrells Inlet, SC, Bobbie (David) Cusack and one brother Marvin B. (Christine) Cribb, Jr. Graveside services will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery at 1:00 pm, Thursday, May 28, 2015 with the Rev. Kirk Lawton officiating. The family will receive friends for thirty minutes before the services begin as well as after the services.
