Conway...... Freeman Heyward Chestnut, age 81 of Hwy 905 passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, February 2, 2019 with his loving wife, Shirley, of 56 years at his side. Mr. Chestnut was born in Conway, SC, a son of the late Kelly W. and Gladys Hardee Chestnut. He was predeceased by 3 brothers, Levon Chestnut, Grady Chestnut, Sr. and Billy Joe Chestnut and 2 sisters, Frances Ernestine Mishoe and Pauline Chestnut (infant). Mr. Chestnut was a member of University Baptist Church and was a former member of First Baptist Church in Myrtle Beach where he served as a Deacon, Treasurer and in many other capacities. Prior to retirement, he was employed by GTE as a Construction Supervisor. Mr. Chestnut was a U.S. Navy Veteran and was a Plankowner of the USS Forrestal. He was a loving husband and a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and loyal friend. Mr. Chestnut is survived by his wife, Shirley E. Chestnut of Conway; one son, Two Chestnut and wife Sandi of Ft. Myers, FL; two daughters, Brenda L. Chestnut of Greenville, SC and Glenda Carter of Myrtle Beach; two grandchildren, Ashley Calhoun "Clyde" and her children, Ellison Brooke "Sweet Pea" and Reagan Grace and Chief Petty Officer, David Huntley, U.S. Navy and his wife Sally of Jacksonville, FL and their children, Elise Nicole Huntley, Rose Olivia Huntley, and Rory John Huntley. Mr. Chestnut is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and a very special Sure-Way coffee buddy Mr. Rick Johnson. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday at University Baptist Church, 1740 East Highway 501 with Rev. Lee Singleton officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeside Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM Wednesday.
