Gene Fine, 75, of Myrtle Beach, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Grand Strand Medical Center with his loving family by his side. Gene was born Edward Eugene Fine on March 24, 1948, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, a son of the late Etta Mae Throckmorton Fine. In addition to his mother, Gene was preceded in death by his son, Eddie Fine, and his dear uncle and friend Jimmy Vest. In life, Gene loved Harley Davidson Motorcycles and he worked with many vendors during the annual Harley Davidson bike rally. Gene also owned and operated his own screen-printing business. Gene had a special relationship with God, and he was a man of very strong faith. He read his Bible daily and prayed daily. Above all else, Gene was a devoted family man who cherished spending time with his family most of all. Gene was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. Cindy was the love of his life and Gene was the rock of the family and held everyone together. His family, especially his wife, children, and grandchildren, were his whole world. Gene leaves behind a large and loving family who will forever cherish his memory. Survivors include his loving wife of 17 years, Cindy Fine; his daughter Mary Applegate and her husband Matt; his daughter Laura Brodie and her husband Shaun-Dae; his son Cody Fine; his stepson Dustin Phillips; his four beloved grandchildren; Ava Doris, Dae-La, Arti, and Annalise; as well as countless other extended family members and many friends. A funeral service to honor Gene will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at 5:30 PM at the Goldfinch Funeral Home – Beach Chapel (11528 Hwy 17 Bypass, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576). His family will receive friends and visitors during a visitation right before the service from 4:00 PM – 5:30 PM, also at Goldfinch Funeral Home – Beach Chapel. Sam Hamrick and Shane Johnson will be officiating the service. Per his wishes, Gene will be cremated after the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Gene’s honor to the Ronald McDonald House Charity (rmhc.org/donate/). Goldfinch Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
