Grace Bell Gerrald, age 76, wife of Jack Q. Gerrald, Jr. of 9th Avenue, died Sunday, June 18, 2006 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center. She was born September 2, 1929 in Horry County, a daughter of the late Henry Coy Bell, Sr. and Lessie Suggs Bell. Mrs. Gerrald was a 1946 graduate of Conway High School and a 1950 graduate of Winthrop University. She later did graduate work at both The University of South Carolina and Clemson University. Mrs. Gerrald was a member of First Baptist Church of Conway where she was a past Sunday School Teacher. She was a charter member of the Conway Lioness Club where she had served as President and was the Lioness of the year. Mr. and Mrs. Gerrald also attended many International Lions conventions representing the Conway Lions and Conway Lioness Clubs. She was a member of The Woodmen of the World Lodge #124 of Conway where she served as a trustee. Mrs. Gerrald was a devoted teacher of 27 years at Aynor High School and Conway High School. She was a member of the Horry County, South Carolina, and National Education Association as well as National Science Teacher's Association. She represented Conway High School in several regional science associations to gather information on textbooks for students. Mrs. Gerrald had also been asked to critique science books for school use. She also sponsored the Biology Club at Conway High School for a number of years. Her greatest love was enjoying the accomplishments of her students which are now ministers, lawyers, mayors, doctors, teachers, nurses, college professors, business owners, and government officials. Mrs. Gerrald was predeceased by two brothers, H.C. Bell, Jr. and Jimmy Bell. Surviving in addition to her husband, Jack, of 55 years of Conway are: two daughters, Jacquelyn Grace McIver of Conway, Judy Carolyn Quinn of Cumming, GA; two grandchildren, Grace McIver, Carolyn Mae Quinn and one great-granddaughter, Nora. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel with Rev. J. Anderson Bass, Jr. and Rev. Rocky Taylor officiating. Entombment will follow at Hillcrest Mausoleum.The family will receive friends from 6:00 unitl 8:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
