Mrs. Harriette Cooper "Cookie" Scoggin Stogner, 95, widow of the late Hasel Otis "Tab" Stogner, Jr. passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at Conway Medical Center. Born June 5, 1921 in Conway, Mrs. Stogner was the daughter of the late Ingram Thomas Scoggin and the late Edna Earle Spivey Scoggin. She was a retired teacher with Horry County Schools. Mrs. Stogner was predeceased by a sister, Patsy Scoggin Watson and a grandson, William Albert Chapman Jr. Cookie, as all called her, was a very loved and admired woman by those who knew her. She never met a stranger, was always making new friends and following up each year with her special Christmas card to her old and new friends. She never missed a friend's birthday and always sent a birthday card. Everyone enjoyed listening to her tales of Horry County history, of which she was well versed. Mom, Cookie, Gamma, Harriette Cooper, whatever you chose to call her, was a friend to many. Her exuberant spirit, love of life and love of people were her special gift to so many. Meeting new people, studying ancestry and just being there for her friends and family are what mattered to her. Cookie was president of her senior classes both at Conway High School (class of 1938) and Queens College (class of 1942). She was a member of Kappa Delta Chapter at Queens College and was instrumental in organizing the Kappa Delta Chapter at USC. She was a member of the Peter Horry DAR, the Colonial Dames, First Families of SC and the French Huguenot Society. She taught in the Conway Schools and many of her former students still speak about their classroom days with great memories and stories. She is survived by her daughter Susan Chapman (Bill); three grandchildren, Cooper Chapman, Clif Chapman (Brandy) and Tab Chapman (Michelle); four great grandchildren; one niece; and three nephews. Visitation will be held at Grace PCA Church from 2:30PM to 4:30PM on Saturday, April 1, 2017. Cookie and Tab were instrumental in establishing this special church by donating the land and other church items. A private burial will be held for the family.
