Hector M. Nieves

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our father, Hector Manuel Nieves, who entered eternal rest on June 18, 2026, at the age of 82. Born on July 2, 1943, in Naranjito, Puerto Rico, Hector lived a life marked by resilience and hard work. He was an exceptional provider for his family and a friend to all. He began his career as a machine operator at Stanley Works in Wallingford, CT, before continuing his employment at Westvaco Corporation in Meriden, CT. There, he witnessed the company's transitions through acquisitions by Weyerhaeuser in 1995 and Atlas Container in 1998, ultimately retiring in 2008. He is survived by his life partner, Maria Nieves; his children, Hector J. Nieves and wife Nicole Nieves, Ivelyse N-Rosa and husband Frankie Rosa, and Jerry Nieves; his grandchildren, Tristan Rosa and wife Courtney Rosa, Alyssa Rosa, Noah Rosa, Christian Nieves, and Abigail Nieves; his siblings, Cristobal Nieves, Maria "Nelly" Nieves, and Iris Vega; his special extended family, Gustavo Rodriguez, Gladys Rodriguez, and Laia; and many extended family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory. Hector was preceded in death by his mother, Sofia Cuadrado; his father, Ramon Nieves; his sister, Elba Nieves; his brother, Miguel Nieves; and his sister, Carmen Cintron. Those who knew Hector will remember his love for fishing, reading, and puzzle books, as well as his sharp mind and the easygoing way he approached life. During his final days, he was surrounded by family, offering comfort, prayers, stories, laughter, and endless love. He left this world knowing he was deeply loved. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. The family will receive family and friends at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Carolina Forest Chapel, from 11:00AM - 1:00PM Thursday, July 2, 2026, with The Rosary recited at 11:00AM by Deacon John Tomasicchio. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael Catholic Church in Murrells Inlet, SC at 2:00PM, officiated by Father Joseph Romanoski. Forever loved, forever remembered, and forever missed.
