Helen Linda Roemer, 79, of Conway, passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2024, at Conway Medical Center with her loving family by her side. Helen was born November 14, 1944, in Somerville, New Jersey, a daughter of the late Joseph Paulus and Helen Vissas Paulus. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Paulus Jr., and her sister, Ann Marie LeMunyon. During her working years, Helen was a keypunch operator for Rutgers University. After retirement, she and her husband relocated to Conway, South Carolina. Helen was a dedicated member of Frassati Catholic Church. She was very active in the church and served in the Rosary Society and was a member of the Crocheting Club. In the club, she helped to make and donate items to the less fortunate. In her leisure time, Helen loved gardening. She kept a vegetable garden and many beds of flowers, which she enjoyed tending to daily. She loved to spend time outside in her garden and loved to watch the birds that would visit. Above all else, Helen loved her family dearly. She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. She was very kind, caring, and generous to all. Helen is survived by her loving family, including her devoted husband of 55 years, William “Bill” Roemer Jr.; her daughter Helen Christine Walsh and her husband James; her daughter Keri Lynn Roemer; her grandchildren Christopher Walsh, Justin Walsh, Daniel Walsh, and Alexis Mahon; along with countless other extended family members and many friends, all who will forever cherish her memory. A funeral service will be held to honor Helen on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Goldfinch Funeral Home of Carolina Forest (325 Hinson Drive, Myrtle Beach, SC 29579). Father David Nerbun of Frassati Catholic Church will be officiating the service. Her family will receive friends during a visitation from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM immediately before the service, also at Goldfinch Funeral Home. Following the service, Helen will be laid to rest at Hillcrest Cemetery (1000 Hwy 544, Conway, SC 29526). In lieu of flowers, the family encourages that memorial donations be made in Helen’s honor to Frassati Catholic Church in Carolina Forest (1300 Carolina Forest Blvd, Myrtle Beach, SC 29579). Goldfinch Funeral Home of Carolina Forest is honored to serve the family.
