Jay Moss, Jr.

Myrtle Beach Jay Dee Moss Jr., 64, died Monday November 23, 2009 at Conway Medical Center. Born in Kings Mountain, NC, he was the son of the late Jay D. Sr. and Eva Moss. Mr. Moss lived his life for the Lord, his wonderful wife of 46 years, his children, and his grandchildren. He loved helping and being part of the lives of anyone he came in contact with. He loved and enjoyed being with people and he could talk and have fun with anyone. Mr. Moss spent thirty-nine and half years in the lawn equipment business when he retired in August 2001 as General Manager of Stovall Turf in Atlanta, GA. He was National Salesman of the Year with the Toro Co. in 1984 in consumer and commercial lawn care equiment.. Mr. Moss loved his community and his church. He was a charter member of the Pawtucket Lions Club in Charlotte, NC and the Conway Sertoma Club. He also served on the Board of Directors for Waccamaw Academy. He was a Royal Ambassador leader at First Baptist Church of Myrtle Beach. He served First Baptist Church of Conway in many capacities over the years as deacon for two terms, committee member of Together We Build and Building Bridges, and Finance committee. Mr. Moss had a heart for the youth of the church and community. Mr. Moss is survived by his loving wife Gail H Moss; a son, Alan Moss and wife Cyndi of Suwanee, GA.; a daughter, Autumn Ward and husband Travis of Mayodan, NC; four grandchildren, Riha and Leila Moss and Emma and Levi Ward; a sister, Shirley Melton and husband David of Kings Mountain, NC; three brothers, Karl Moss and wife Martha of Kings Mountain, NC, Reggie Moss and wife Kay of Kings Mountain, NC, and Ed Moss and wife Peggy of Lake Ashton, FL. A celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday November 25 at 4:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Conway with Dr. Bob Guffey and Dr. Wayne Brown officiating. Family will receive friends immediately following the service at the front of the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Gail H. Moss Endowment at the Conway Medical Center Foundation that was started in 2005 by Mr. Moss to honor the career in nursing and teaching of his wife.
