Joe Ed Cox, age 83, passed away in Conway, SC with family by his side on December 17, 2024 Joe was born on Aug.1,1941 in Beckley, West Virginia to the late Lloyd Jennings Cox & Maggie Seizmore Cox. Capturing the essence of Joe's amazing life in just a few words will be a challenge. We will begin as a child Joe went to church with his parents & siblings and was blessed to know the Lord. He could sing bible songs and recite many bible verses Joe went to grade & High School in Beckley, West Virginia; Played baseball & worked around the old farm house doing many chores; Joe decided to join the army; so he went into the 82nd Airborne Division in 1959 and was sent to Okinawa for 3 years before coming home to Beckley West Virginia in 1963. After getting out of the 82nd Airborne Joe went to Virginia and began to Work at Washington Natural Gas Co in Northern Va for 30 years Joe moved down to Longs SC in 1997 after retiring from Washington Natural Gas Co in Virginia with his wife Evelyn (Evie) Cox they lived in Longs SC for 27 years. Joe played golf at Aberdeen Country Club (formally know as Buck Creek Golf Course) in the men's league for 27 years. He also made contact with a lot of his old army buddies. They would meet up every year at Fort Bragg on Memorial Day week to celebrate the troops. Joe is survived by his loving wife Evelyn (Evie) Treger Cox, married for 42 years Survived by his loving Children Diane (DeeDee) Cox Wilson & (David), Michael S. Cox & (Alice), Laurie Cox Addison & (David), Jason P Card & ( Danielle) and his granddaughter whom he raised as his daughter Ashley M. Kidwiler & (Mike) also survived by 9 other grandchildren, Marty, JT & (Kristin), Elly & (Seth), Katie & (Mike), Charlie, Bradley & (Stacey), Jacob, Lauren & Ryann who passed in 2018 and 9 great grandchildren Cash, Daxon, Harry, Colton, Ava, Declan, Banks, Cayden, Amanda. Joe was proceeded in passing by his brother Marvin Mac Cox & wife Jean and survived by brothers Larry Cox & (Dolla), Doug Cox & (Teresa), and sister Judy Cox Gergely & (Joe) Joe was truly an honorable American hero who loved and served his country for 3 years; he will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends.
