Georgetown… Joe Rabon, age 85, a child of the King, born in 1933 in the Maple Community of Horry County to earthly parents, Raleigh and Mollie Jordan Rabon, passed away Thursday, April 25, 2019. He was a devoted son who loved and cared for his parents until their death. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Mildred Burris (Billy), brother, Edwin Rabon (Margie), second parents, Casey and Reba Grainger, and brother-in-law, Wayne Grainger. Joe was a US Army Veteran. In 1954, he was drafted into the Army's 101st Screaming Eagles. During this time he married his wife of 64 years, Hilda Grainger. His first son, Joey was born at Ft. Benning, GA. After an honorable discharge in Nov. 1956, he began a long and successful career as an agent with United Insurance of America in Georgetown, SC. He earned many awards and trips all over the world. During this time, a daughter, Jill, and a son, Jon, were added to the family. Joe was blessed with the marriages of his children, Joey to Stacy, Jill to Nick, and Jon to Donna. These marriages brought six wonderful, amazing, grandchildren, Joshua Rabon (Cameron), Hannah Rabon, Henry Davidge, William Davidge, Jessica Rabon, and Christopher Rabon. He was also the proud great grandfather to two precious granddaughters, Margaret and Lillian (coming in June). His love for his family was immeasurable. Joe was a kind, humble servant, who never met a stranger. One of his many talents was his love for others. He was a devoted man of God whose greatest desire was to lead others to the saving grace of Jesus Christ. In addition to his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, he leaves behind his heart, his wife, Hilda, fondly known as "Honey", and a multitude of friends that were more precious than silver and gold. Services will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, April 27 at First Baptist Church of Georgetown with a reception to follow in Fellowship Hall.
