John J O'Boyle March 28, 1937- July 19, 2023 John J O'Boyle, 86, of Pawleys Island, was reunited with the love of his life on July 19, 2023. His beloved wife of 62 years, Nancy, passed away in 2021. He spent the last two years dreaming of reuniting with her in heaven. He was born March 28th, 1937 to John and Mary O'Boyle Cleveland, Ohio. After graduating high school, John went on to serve in the Marines. He then began his career with the U.S. Postal Service. A job he was very proud of. John married his beloved Nancy in 1959. Together, they had 4 children, John, Jim, Cathy and Karen. They raised their family in Parma, Ohio. While working and raising a family, John went on to complete his Bachelor's Degree from Cleveland State University. After retirement, John and Nancy built their dream house in Pawleys Island, SC. There, John spent his retirement sitting on the porch with Nancy, golfing and dedicating more time to his true passion- writing. One of John's proudest accomplishments is the several books and plays he wrote. When he wasn't writing you could find him sitting at the computer playing solitaire or sitting on the front porch with a cigar. John was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years Nancy, his parents John and Mary and sisters Mary, Nora and Trudy. He is survived by 4 children John (Michelle) O'Boyle, James (Robin) O'Boyle, Catherine (David-deceased) Bartl and Karen O'Boyle, 7 grandchildren Kristen (Dennis), Brian (Adrien), Tori (Andy), Anna, Maya, Amber (Nick) and Kyle and 6 great grandchildren Nolan, Reagan, Colton, Riley, Otto and Scott. John was born a storyteller and was known for passing on many words of wisdom to those he loved. His favorite piece of advice to bestow upon all his loved ones was "You gotta pull your own wagon." John will be remembered for his kindness, generosity and storytelling. The family will be honoring John with a Mass at Precious Blood of Christ Church, 1633 Waverly Rd, Pawleys Island, SC 29585, on August 12th, 2023 at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to treat a loved one to dinner and leave a generous tip. That was the John O'Boyle way. --
