John Edward Woodall, 72, of Conway, South Carolina, died unexpectedly on May 22, 2023, at MUSC Hospital in Charleston, SC. John was born October 23, 1950, in Morgantown, West Virginia, the son of the late Hilbert C. Woodall and Evelyn Pearl Wamsley Woodall. John graduated from University High School of Morgantown, WV in 1968. Following graduation, he moved to Upper Marlboro, Maryland. While there, he earned his Associates of Arts Degree in Business Management and graduated with honors from Prince George’s Community College. Later, he retired from the International Teamsters Union after serving as Secretary / Treasurer. John continued to serve as secretary of the Board of Trustees for the Local 730 / 639 Public Sector Legal Services Trust Fund. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his sisters Betty Woodall Nease Hutchinson, Hilda Woodall Ruggles Pritt, Mary Woodall Dulin Sommers, as well as his brothers Clyde Woodall and Tom Woodall. John is survived by a loving family, including his devoted wife Brenda Cipolloni Woodall; his beloved daughters Jennifer Woodall Hunt (Mark) of Chesapeake Beach, MD and Stacy Woodall Thacker (Jonathan) of Lusby, MD; his four dear grandchildren Hayden Hunt, Lilyan Hunt, Jackson Hunt and Raini May Thacker; his former wife Nancy Eickhoff Woodall; his sister Dorothy Woodall Zara (Ronnie) of Grafton, WV; his brothers William “Bill” Woodall of Waldorf, MD, Robert “Bob” Woodall of Pasadena, MD, and Richard “Dick” Woodall of Conway, SC; his step-children Steven Jackson (Sharika) of Shreveport, LA and Michael Freed of Columbia, SC; his step-grandchildren Bryce Jackson and Daniel Jackson; his countless nieces, nephews, other extended family members and many friends; and last but not least, his sweet fur-baby Pearl. In his leisure time, John enjoyed playing Men’s League Sports, basketball, slow pitch softball and pickleball. He loved Washington Redskins (Commanders) football, The Capitals hockey team and West Virginia sports in general. He also enjoyed listening to country music, playing cards, watching old reruns and movies, and going to the beach. The family is honoring John’s wishes to be cremated and his urn buried at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Morgantown, West Virginia. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in John’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org/donate) or to the charity of one’s choice. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at 11:30 AM at Pleasant Hill Cemetery at 391 South Pierpont Road in Morgantown, West Virginia. Family and friends are invited to gather at the parking lot of Pierpont Church of the Nazarene (52 Harner Run Road #4153, Morgantown, WV 26508) at 11:15 AM. Then, the group will travel to the cemetery which is approximately one mile away. Pastor Tim Haring will be officiating the graveside service. After the service, friends and family are invited to return to Pierpont Church of the Nazarene to fellowship and enjoy a luncheon at 12:30 PM. Church doors will be open at 12:00 Noon. Goldfinch Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
