Judith A. (LaPreste) Phillips, 79, passed away at her home in Myrtle Beach on September 8, 2024. She was born on January 5, 1945 and grew up in Milford, MA. Judy was a graduate of Milford High School Class of 1963. She spent most of her life living in Hopedale and Uxbridge, MA, until recently moving to South Carolina to be close to family. Judy was predeceased by her husband Dennis W. Phillips; her parents John LaPreste and Isabella (Hicks) LaPreste; and her sister, Marie (LaPreste) Bergeron. She is survived by her daughter, Dorene (Phillips) Landry and her husband Gregory Landry of Viera, FL; her son Brian and his wife Coleen Phillips of Myrtle Beach, SC; her sister, Susan (LaPreste) Annantuonio and her husband Tony Annantuonio; and her brother, Richard and his wife Debbie LaPreste of Milford, MA, and many dear nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Most notably, she was a dedicated, loving “Ganny” to her grandchildren Paxton Phillips of Myrtle Beach, SC; and Victoria Landry LeBel and her husband Timothy LeBel of Waltham, MA. In addition to being a loving mother and grandmother, she spent many years as a preschool teacher’s aide in Milford and went on to co-own Kid’s Corner with her sister Susan. She also helped to run D.W. Phillips Electric Co., Inc., alongside her husband, and worked in medical billing into retirement. Judy’s hard work and attention to detail were instrumental in their success. Judy was a skilled house painter, hugger, and lasagna-maker. She loved fiercely and took care of her family and friends when they needed her most. She enjoyed doing ceramics and Tole painting. In her spare time and into retirement, she could be found doing puzzles, reading, and watching cowboy movies alongside her beloved cat, Bella. She will be remembered and missed as a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend to many. A prayer service will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 12:00 PM Noon at Buma Funeral Homes - Uxbridge (101 N. Main Street, Uxbridge, MA 01569). Judy's family will receive friends during a visitation from 10:00 AM until the service begins at 12:00 PM Noon, also at Buma Funeral Homes - Uxbridge.
