Kathleen Ann Rogers nee Eschrich born November 1, 1926 passed to her eternal father on November 27, 2014. She was the daughter of the late Otto and Clara Eschrich. Born and raised in Johnstown, Pennsylvania , she resided there until 1994 when she and her husband relocated to Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. She was employed by the Prudential Insurance Company. She is survived by her loving husband and caretaker, John (Jack) B. Rogers, brother Ray Eschrich and by her daughter Ginger Rogers Rizzi of Princess Anne, Maryland, twin sons, Jeffrey William Rogers, (sIgnificant other Marybeth Salyer) Plano, Texas and Gregory Keith Rogers (Nancy) of Jacksonville, Florida. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, Clark Blackburn (Shannon), Megan Blackburn (Jon Struthers), Mary Courtin (Ray), Margaret Rogers, Daniel Rogers, Matthew Rogers and Samuel Rogers. In addition she is survived by 4 great grand children, Brayden Courtin, Brielle Blackburn, Piper Courtin, Olivia Struthers and nieces and nephews, Jane Sargeant (Phil) and Carol and Ed Warfel. She was predeceased by her sister Doris (April 2005) great grandson Luke Courtin (2012) and son-in-law Anthony Rizzi (2013) who belovedly referred to her as "Miss Kay." Kathleen was a BETA SIGMA PHI member for 69 years of the ETA Master Group. Beta Sigma Phi is an international women's social, cultural and service organization. Kay was so proud to be the oldest member of her chapter. Throughout her long membership she achieved every award that was available through international. Most recently, she achieved "The Torch" and was presented this at a special recognition service. She enjoyed cruising, gardening, cooking, reading, the beach and eating at her favorite restaurants. As her health declined she was known to say that when it was her turn to cook,"we go out." Kathleen loved to recognize birthdays of family and friends with her card ministry. Her favorite joy was loving her family and spending time with her children, grandchildren and her great grands. Kathleen will always be recognized as being a most kind, loving and thoughtful person. The family always teased her about her movie star status at the gym. She and Jack exercised faithfully and were both "stars" on a special health segment featuring the benefits of exercises for seniors . This aired on the Myrtle Beach TV station, WMBFNEWS. Kathleen enjoyed nature and especially the butterfly by observing the unique process it undergoes as it emerges into the beautiful creature that it is. Those who survive are comforted by: "I only ask to be free. The butterflies are free." Charles Dickens. A memorial service celebrating the life of Kathleen will be held at the Garden City Baptist Church in Garden City Beach, South Carolina with Dr. Bob A. Teems leading the Sunday, December 21, 2014, 3:00 pm service. Flowers will be graciously received but in lieu of them, contributions to further the research of Charcot Marie Tooth disease would be appreciated.
