Kathleen Luke White, 94, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2024. Born on June 19th, 1930 in Dublin, Ireland Kathleen was the oldest child of Elizabeth and Francis Fahy. Immigrating to New York in 1933 where she was raised with her two brothers, Francis and James, until wedding her first husband Howard Cotter Luke in 1951. Kathy and Howard eventually moved to Cheshire, Connecticut where they raised their three children Kathy, Nancy and Frank. Primarily a mother and homemaker Kathy had an insatiable passion for reading. As a volunteer for various charitable organizations, she found great enjoyment and satisfaction volunteering as a librarian at the public and school libraries. Eventually she was persuaded to take a job with the Cheshire school system processing books for their elementary school libraries. Kathleen was extremely proud to be an American citizen which was only surpassed by her love of family and faith. Her family continued to grow with weddings and births; Kathy wed Wayne Kniphfer, Nancy wed John Zimmerman while Frank married Cynthia Davis. Retiring and relocating to Murrells Inlet, SC in 1988 Kathy and Howard were active members of St. Michael’s Catholic Church. Howard passed away in 1991 after 40 years of marriage. Kathy would say “I am truly blessed” when she found love again with James White, who she wed in 1996. Kathleen’s relationship with family was unquestionably her greatest love! Her family increased significantly with her marriage to Jim bringing them both joy with their extended families over their 28 years together. She was preceded in death by her parents Elizabeth & Francis, husbands Howard Luke & James White, brother Monsignor Francis Fahy, and beloved daughter Nancy Zimmerman. She is survived by her loving brother James Fahy, children Kathleen Kniphfer (Wayne), John Zimmerman (Nancy deceased), Frank Luke (Cynthia), Deborah Aloe (Daniel), Catherine Dundas, James White III (Dayna), Joseph White and special nephew Eric Stoerger (Rosemary). Known as “Mimi” Kathleen leaves many loving grandchildren whom she had a special relationship with: Andrew & Anna Kniphfer, Matthew Kniphfer, Eric & Jessica Luke, Eric & Brittany Stoerger, Michael & Sarina Stoerger, Brian & Danny White, Greg, & Alex Cohen, Merissa Cohen & Adrian Oldham, Lisa, Andrew and Ben Dundas. In addition to grandchildren Mimi leaves 15 great grandchildren: Emma & Luke Kniphfer, Kate & Declan Stoerger, Charlotte & Ellia Stoerger, Isabella and Cameron Cohen, Isla and Vance Cohen, Kaitlyn, Madelyn and Makenna Dundas, Laurent and Frances Dundas. In addition, Kathy Leaves many nieces, nephews and exceptional friends from all over the country and Ireland. Truly a very loyal friend with a wonderful sense of humor and a warm smile that will be missed yet her legacy for us moving forward. Kathleen’s Funeral Mass will be held 2:00pm on August 14, 2024 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 542 Cypress Avenue, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576. In lieu of flowers or memorial gifts please consider donations to the Parish Building Fund at St. Michael’s.
