Tributes

Kenneth Hayes Vinson, age 65, of Hwy. 905, died Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at Conway Medical Center. Mr. Vinson was born December 17, 1941 in Union, S.C., a son of the late Douglas Hayes and Elnora Rector Vinson. He graduated from Union High School and the University of South Carolina with a baccalaureate in Business Administration-Marketing. Kenneth was a certified financial planner associated with American Express for the greater part of his business career. He served on the board of Deacons and as chairman of the Stewardship Committee of Kingston Presbyterian Church. Kenneth was a lifelong Rotarian from his high school days as a junior Rotarian to President of the Conway Rotary Club and recognized as a Ten Star Rotarian. He was influential in establishing and maintaining the Conway Rotary Club?s Scholarship Program for the needy community students attending Coastal Carolina University and Horry-Georgetown Technical Education College.He served as President and on the Board of Trustees of the Horry County Museum Foundation and served on the Legacy Council of Coastal Carolina University. Kenneth was a member of the Chicora Region Antique Car Club. Surviving are his wife of thirty years, Janet Burroughs Vinson of Conway, his aunt, Nancy Rector Shull of West Columbia, SC, two daughters, Mary Donald Boyle and her husband, Joe of Sumter and Margaret Lorraine Brinkley Sordian of Jacksonville, Fl, five grandchildren, Joseph Foster Boyle, Jr. and his son, Vinson, Philip McNeill Sordian, Emily McRee Sordian, Mary Elizabeth Boyle and Charles Andrew Sordian, one sister, Eleanor Bennett of LaGrange, GA, numerous nieces, nephews cousins and fiends. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday at Kingston Presbyterian Church with Rev. Don Stiens officiating. Burial will Lakeside Cemetery directed by Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Friday at the residence, 550 Hwy 905, Conway, SC. Friends are also welcome to visit Mr. Vinson from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Friday at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. L.B. Courtney, H.B. Burroughs, Jr., Dan Collins, Oscar Hodge, Phil Hodge, Rick Rickenbaker, Bill Kelly, Bob Squatriglia and Billy Avant. Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
