Myrtle Beach… It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Larry Laverne Hanna, 78, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Larry went home to be with the Lord on December 8, 2025 after a very short illness. Born in Florence, South Carolina, the son of Muriel Poston Hanna and the late Jethro Hanna of Myrtle Beach, he grew up in Florence and graduated from McClenaghan High School in 1965. Larry taught for a brief time at Socastee High School after earning a degree in Biology at the University of South Carolina. He then returned to USC and earned a Juris Doctorate of Law. After a successful career in law, he transitioned to pursuing his passion for construction full-time. Larry loved family and his legacy lives on through the values he instilled in his children. He loved the get-togethers with his children, grandchildren, and spending Sundays with his Mom and family, having animated conversations and solving all the world's problems in just a few hours. Watching wildlife activity, riding through the woods in his golf cart and taking care of his horse were a few activities he enjoyed when not spending time with his family. Larry leaves behind four children: Christopher Hanna (Natasha) of Conway, Laura Huggins (Keith) of Chapin, Kirk Hanna (Mandy) of Myrtle Beach, and Jason Hanna of CO Springs; eight grandchildren: Tate and Chase Hanna, Mary Frances Nardelli (Fabio), Annalise and Kate Huggins, Lacy Haynes (Roby), and Peyton and Truston Hanna; and one great grandchild, Palmer Kit Haynes. He also leaves behind two sisters: Brenda Brown (Terry) and Dawn Hitchcock (Bob); and a brother: John Hanna (Jennifer); and his loving mother, whom he cherished dearly. The family will receive friends at Forestbrook Baptist Church on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at 11:30 am, followed by a service at 1:00 PM. A graveside burial will take place at Hillcrest Cemetery in Conway, SC.
