LORIS…. Mr. Leavy Dale “L.D.” Graham, age 80, of the Goretown Community of Horry County departed this life on the quiet and peaceful evening of October 2, 2008 to begin an eternal life with our Savior Jesus Christ. He was in the comfort of his home and surrounded by his loving family. L.D., as everyone called him, was the only son of the late Essie B. Graham, born March 2, 1928. His younger years were spent watching and learning from his grandfather, the late Rev. Bart Graham. From his grandfather, he learned many things, but most importantly, the responsibility of taking care of his family. As he became an adult, he was well-known in the community of Loris, working in various local businesses and continued to be a big support to his family as his grandfather had taught him. One day he met a special young lady that captured his heart, Mildred Mae Riggins, and on February 14, 1962 (Valentine’s Day) he married his love, Mildred. L.D. was baptized by the Rev. Dr. Tim Osment and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Loris. L.D. leaves to cherish his loving memory : his wife: Mrs. Mildred Mae Riggins Graham of the home, ten children: Larry Dale (Valerie) Johnson of Tampa, Florida; Jimmy (Sharon Cox) Jones of Landover, Maryland; Marilyn (Mark) Garcia of Grovetown, Georgia; Bryon C. Graham of Florence, Trenton B. Graham of Albany, New York; Travis B. Graham of Lithonia, Georgia; Reginald E. (Michelle) Graham of Little River; Ronald E. Graham of Tampa, Florida; Larry Donnell Graham of Loris and Tara (Eddie) James of Loris, sixteen grandchildren and one great-grandson; one brother-in-law, James A. Riggins; one sister-in-law, Sally Riggins, both of Loris; two aunts, Louise Cobb of Baltimore, Maryland and Dorothy Lee Bromell of Loris; one uncle, Thomas B. Graham of Baltimore, Maryland and an extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends Sunday, October 5, 2008 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Ward Funeral Home in Loris. A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Graham will be held Monday, October 6, 2008 at 11:00 AM from the Ward Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Tim Osment and Rev. Leonard D. Comithier, Jr. offering words of comfort. Several members of the family will be participating in the service through various musical selections and eulogies as well. Internment will follow in the Heavenly Hills Cemetery, Log Cabin Road, Loris.
