Lisa Dawn Knaggs Thompson, age 60 years, a native of Elkins, WV and a resident of Myrtle Beach, SC departed this life early Sunday morning, October 2, 2022 at her home. Death was unexpected. She was born, Thursday, October 5, 1961 at Elkins, WV a daughter of Alvin Keith “Sonny” Knaggs and his wife Susan, who survives and the late Karen Ann Kittle Knaggs. On June 24, 2017 at Myrtle Beach, SC, she was married to Steven Mark Thompson, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Tyler Paul Powell and girlfriend Leila Rozzi of Huntington, Logan Keith Powell and girlfriend Christiana Scott of Elkins; two step-children, Noah Zachary Thompson of Columbia, SC and Shelby Noel Thompson of Conway, SC; one brother, Michael Keith “Mike” Knaggs and wife Stacy of Morgantown; one grandson, Brohm Scott; two nieces, Kaylee Ann Knaggs of Roswell, NM and Ayden Elyse Knaggs of Morgantown; two aunts, Donna Jean Barger of Morgantown and Anna Jewell Knaggs of MD; two uncles, Keith Gordon Kittle and wife Judy of KY and Benjamin Joe Knaggs and wife Phyllis of GA. She was a graduate of Elkins High School with the Class of 1979, being awarded the Best Dressed student that year. She attended Marshall University for banking and financing and was a graduate of Davis & Elkins College with a degree in interior design and fashion merchandising. She worked as a bank teller in Myrtle Beach and P1 billing as a Coding Specialist for twenty years. While her boys were in school, she worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital as head medical coding specialist, before returning back to the Myrtle Beach area. She worked for an endocrinologist, Dr. Wani and an eye doctor Bittner. For two years she was President of the Elkins Area Band Auxiliary and was a princess in the Forest Festival. She was a chaperone for a foreign exchange in Greece and Italy, which she enjoyed very much. In her younger years, she enjoyed gardening and canning with her mother and grandmother. She loved making crafts, was an avid sewer, a phenomenal painter, was very artistic and was an excellent cook. She was a member of the Solid Rock Baptist Church at Surfside Beach, SC. The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 4 PM to 6 PM, Friday. Final Rites will be conducted at the funeral home, Saturday, October 15, 2022 at 11 AM. The Reverend Andrew Boley will officiate and interment will follow at the Maplewood Cemetery at Elkins, WV. Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel assisted with local arrangements.
