Conway… Master Sergeant, Lloyd James, US Air Force (Ret), age 85, passed away Monday, June 3, 2019 at his residence with his family by his side. Lloyd was born April 11, 1934 in Loris, a son of the late Leamon and Ina Harris James. Lloyd graduated from Loris High School in 1951, before joining the Air Force. He retired a Master Sergeant in US Air Force. Military life was an honor and led Lloyd and family to many parts of the world from Fairbanks, Alaska to Tehran, Iran. He was an avid fan of sports and he loved Carolina Gamecocks the Atlanta Braves. Lloyd was a lover of good music, namely Creedance Clearwater Revival and Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. Lloyd loved a good party and will be remembered for his "gator" dancing skills while the band played "Shout" He was a lover of fun, friends, and family. He was unselfish and made himself available to any and all that needed him. He will be remembered for his kindness and dry wit. Lloyd was a skilled artist, his talent for making homes beautiful remains unmatched and can be seen in many residences and businesses across the coastal area. Lloyd and his wife Carol owned and operated James Decorators until retirement in the early 2000s. He is a member of First Baptist Church in Conway SC. Lloyd is preceded in death by son Gary Dean James. Surviving are his loving wife of 66 years Carol Dutton James; son Steven Randall James (Kitten) of Conway; daughter Robyn Caroline James - Ruff (Mark) of Conway; honorary daughter Sallie Sasser- Glover; grandchildren Brandy Marie James, Gary Dean James II, Alyssa Blake James and Krista Alexandria "Alex" Ruff; great grandchildren Jacob Lars Stiebel and Rebecca Bree Stiebel; brothers Leamon Dewey "Dew" James (Barbara), Charles Edward James (Hester), Herman Paul James (Shelba), Robert Wayne James (Linda), Bobby Reynolds James (Judy) and his beloved daughter-in-law Dianne James; many special nieces and nephews; special friend Carol Fusco and his beloved companions that seem lost without him, his dogs Bo and Kandi. A Celebration of Life Services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, June 6, 2019 Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel officiated by Celebrant Heather Black. Full Military Honors to follow the Service. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Lloyd's family wishes to thank Crescent Hospice for their kindness and compassion over the last two weeks. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Fostering Hope at or Grand Strand Humane Society at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel is serving the family.
