Mrs. Lois "Faye" Bellamy

North Myrtle Beach… Lois Faye Hewett Bellamy, affectionately known as Faye or Grandma, was born January 27, 1934 in Supply, NC to Cobie and Ethel Hewett. She lived a life defined by love, learning, service, and an unwavering commitment to the people around her. Faye graduated from Shallotte High School in 1952 and went on to earn her bachelor's degree in business and secondary education from East Carolina State University in Greenville, North Carolina. After college, she returned to Shallotte High School and dedicated 30 years to teaching. Education wasn't simply a career for Faye, it was a calling. She took great pride in preparing her students for the future and continued to support them by attending her students' high school reunions and catching up on their lives. Her dedication to education earned her numerous honors and opportunities. She was a member of the North Carolina Education Association, The National Education Association, and the North Carolina Classroom Teacher's Association. She was nominated by the North Carolina State Superintendent of Instruction to serve on the Professional Review Committee. She was also invited to join the Beta Beta Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa. Among her proudest professional recognitions was the Valley Forge Teacher Medal, awarded in recognition of outstanding achievement as a teacher. She was also chosen as Career Woman of the Year by the Grand Strand Business and Professional Women's Club, an honor that reflected not only her professional accomplishments, but also her dedication to her community. Faye believed strongly in giving back. Even after her teaching career, she continued serving others through volunteer work and community involvement. She devoted many hours in local schools supporting students and assisting teachers. She gave her time generously to many causes and organizations. She worked with the Chamber of Commerce on community events and causes such as the Sun Fun Festival, cancer drives, and the Heart Fund. She was also a member of the Crescent Beach Garden Club and took pride in helping beautify her community. Faye also loved to travel. She always told her friends and family, "my bag is always packed". Her favorite trips were those with her entire family and her best friend and travel companion, Delma. She enjoyed the many miles, adventures, and memories they share together. But beyond all of her accomplishments, Faye's greatest joy was her family. She was an incredible wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a selfless woman who cared deeply for her family and community. She had an open heart and an open hand for those who needed help, including rescue animals, always offering her time, love, and care graciously. Faye's loss is deeply felt by her entire family and by the countless people whose lives she touched throughout her many years of teaching, volunteering, and serving others. Her family extends heartfelt gratitude to everyone who loved, cared for, supported, and walked alongside Faye and her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Bellamy, her sister, Hilda “Toots” Pigott, and her best friend, Ray Morton. Faye is survived by her children: Rene’ (Bill) and Randy (Ann); her grandchildren: Cobie (Hunter), Kelsey (Ben), and Emma (Abraham); and her great grandchildren, Henley, Collins, Nolan, and a little boy who will soon join the family and carry her legacy. She is also survived by her sister, Priscilla (Joe), as well as many extended family members, cousins, friends, former students, and others who were blessed to know and love her. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, September 1, 2026 at First Baptist Church of North Myrtle Beach with Pastor Michael Stewart officiating. Burial will follow immediately at Pleasant Plain Cemetery in Little River. The family will receive friends one hour prior, from 12:00 PM-1:00 PM at the church. In Faye's memory, the family has asked everyone to wear bright colors to the service.
