Lorie Y. Runion, age 70, passed away from this life into the arms of Jesus on August 17th, 2021. Born in Hanover, PA, she was the daughter of Martin L. and Garnie E. Doll. Lorie attended Spring Grove High School, graduating in 1969. She continued her education, receiving her B.S. degree in Education and Master's degree in Child Psychology from Millersville State University. Lorie began her career as an Elementary School Teacher. She then started a career in banking. She was promoted to the Executive Vice President of Human Resources and Marketing with First National Bank of Pennsylvania and East Carolina Bank. She continued her career as a Professor and Lecturer in Business Management and Marketing at Coastal Carolina University. Lorie married the love of her life, James Runion, on August 9th, 1970. They lived their married lives in York County, PA, Murrells Inlet, SC and retired to Bakersville, NC. Lorie was active in Belin Memorial United Methodist Church, Murrells Inlet, SC. She loved singing in the choir. They performed at numerous venues, including Carnegie Hall. Lorie was a devoted daughter, wife and mother. She was preceded in death by her father, Martin L. Doll, Sr. Left to cherish her memory is beloved husband, Jim Runion of the home; mother, Garnie E. Doll of PA; son, Benjamin Runion (Nacale) of Charleston, SC; daughter, Jessica Runion of Charleston, SC. She is also survived by brother, Martin L. Doll, Jr. (Karen) of DE; sister, Kathy Betzel (Les) of PA; sister-in-law, Brenda Blondheim (Jack) of MD, several nieces and nephews. Two celebrations of Lorie's life will be held. The first at Vians Valley Presbyterian Church, Bakersville, NC, on Thursday, August 19th at 5:00 PM. Rev. Jacob Willis will officiate. The second will be held at Belin Memorial UMC in Murrells Inlet, SC, on Saturday, August 21st at 2:00 PM. Rev. Will Malambri will officiate. Light refreshments will follow.
