Mack Montgomery

Conway???Mack Leonidas Montgomery, Sr. age 90, of Highway 90 died Wednesday, November 21, 2007 at Conway Medical Center following an illness. \tMr. Montgomery was born in Conway, a son of the late Charlie M. and Magnolia Ward Montgomery. He was a US Navy Veteran serving in World War II on the USS Block Island 1 in the Atlantic Theatre and then on Block Island 2 in the Pacific Theatre. Mr. Montgomery was one of the last surviving members of the Class of 1936 at Conway High School. Prior to retirement, he was employed by the Myrtle Beach Air Force Base Civil Service for 33 ½ years. He was a member of Tilly Swamp Baptist Church. Mr. Montgomery enjoyed life with his greatest accomplishment being his children and grandchildren and gardening. He was predeceased by a brother, Odell Montgomery and two sisters, Edna Edwards and Effie Montgomery. \tSurviving are: his wife of 67 years, Iva Mae Chestnut Montgomery of Conway; four sons, Mack L. Montgomery, Jr. and his wife Linda, Roger Dale Montgomery and his wife Elaine, and Donald Montgomery and his wife Gwen, all of Conway and Larry Montgomery and his wife Sarah of Dry Branch, Georgia; three daughters, Mary Louise ?Squeaky? Parker of Florence, SC, Barbara M. Sarvis and her husband Keith and Nancy M. Hucks and her husband Steve, all of Conway; three brothers, James B. Montgomery of Ruffin, SC, Delene ?C.B.? Montgomery of Ravenel, SC and Bobby F. Montgomery of Conway, SC; three sisters, Bernice Allen and Magdalene Roberts and her husband Arthur, all of Rock Hill, and Erlene Hewitt and her husband Thomas of Socastee; 9 grandchildren, Tammy Law, Angie Montgomery, Kyle Montgomery, Kimberly Montgomery, Andy Montgomery, LCDR Heath Sarvis, USN, Patrick Montgomery, Jarred Hucks, and Brett Hucks; 11 great grandchildren, Lee Cooper, Marissa Law, Bailey Montgomery, Landon Ward, Cameron Montgomery, Greydon Sarvis, Chloe Sarvis, Shyanne Holt, Cullen Holt, Alan Montgomery, and Owen Montgomery; one aunt, Sallie Edwards of Loris; and several nieces and nephews. \tFuneral services will be held at Saturday from Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel with Rev. Archie Evans and Rev. A.D. Grainger officiating.
