Marshall G. Bryant, Sr. husband of Nina Bryant died Sunday, January 24, 2010. Mr. Bryant was born in Winston-Salem, NC, September 4, 1928. He was the son of the late Gaither and Flora Bryant. Marshall received his degree in Industrial Engineering from North Carolina State University and was a Professional Engineer. He retired after 34 years with the Bell System following various engineering, administrative and managerial assignments at Western Electric Company, Bell Telephone Laboratories and AT&T. For five years, he directed the Governor's Initiative for Workforce Excellence in Horry and Georgetown counties. He was a former member and Chairman of the Georgetown County Commission on Higher Education. He served in the United States Air Force with the rank of Captain, USAFR. For the past 20 years, Marshall was a very active member of the Rotary Club of Pawleys Island, where he served as President prior to becoming Governor of District 7770 in 2000-2001. He and Mrs. Bryant are Paul Harris Fellows, Benefactors and Major Donors. His Rotary travels included International Conventions in Europe, South American and the United States. He was active in the boy Scouts of American for many years. He is an Eagle Scout and Life Member of the National Eagle Scout Association. Marshall has been honored with District Award of Merit, Council Silver Beaver Award, Regional Silver Antelope Award, and the Distinguished Service Award of the National Eagle Scout Association. He was a Scottish Rite 32nd Degree Mason, Shriner, Past Master of his Lodge and Past Grand Chaplain. He frequently conducted Masonic funeral services. He has served his church in numerous leadership roles, including Adult Teacher, Lay Leader, Trustee and Elder. Marshall is survived by his wife, one daughter, Linda Reeves and her husband Richard S. Reeves, Jr. of Basking Ridge, NJ; and two sons, Marshall, Jr. of Myrtle Beach and Mark, of New York City; one sister, Mrs. Barbara Jane Pappas of Winston-Salem, NC. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at Pawleys Island Presbyterian Church with Reverend Frank Holsclaw officiating. Family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel.
