Mary Edna Turner, age 88, passed away Wednesday, December 07, 2016 at Conway Medical Center. Mary Edna was born in Dillon County, SC, the daughter of the late Henry Wister George and Albertine Haselden George. She attended Flora MacDonald College in Red Springs, NC, after graduating from Latta High School in Latta, SC. During her career, Mary Edna was a Banking Officer at Wachovia Bank in Laurinburg, NC. After moving to Myrtle Beach, she served as the Administrative Secretary to the Senior Minister at First Presbyterian Church. She also served as Vice Moderator and Circle Chairman of the Presbyterian Women, was a volunteer for Mobile Meals, and also a member of Associated Charities. In addition to her parents; Mary Edna was also preceded in death by her husbands, B.L. “Buck” Turner (Former Mayor of Briarcliffe Acres), Tracy F. Haselden, and D. Langdon Stone, Jr. Mary Edna was also preceded in death by a son, George Langdon Stone; a sister, Gloria George Steed; and a brother, R. Charlton George. She is survived by her daughter, Wista Stone Moody and her husband, Josh, of Wagram, NC; her son, Jon H. Stone and his wife, Vicki, of Conway; her daughter-in-law, Marie Richardson and her husband, Bobby, and their son, Rob, all of Conway; her two grandsons, Lee Moody and his wife, Melonie, of Aberdeen, NC, Ashley Moody of Wagram, NC; one granddaughter, Stephanie R. Sisson and husband, Greg, of Myrtle Beach; two great granddaughters, McKenzie Moody and Eden Sisson; three great grandsons, Steele Sisson, Aiden Moody, and Owen Moody; five stepchildren, Ginni Burden, Milli Weaver, Debbie Stoudenmire, Tracy F. Haselden, and David Haselden; several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren also survive. Mary Edna also leaves behind three nieces, Grace Spears, Stephanie Thigpen, Alison Russell; and four nephews, Robert George, David George, Jim Steed, and Ashley Steed. Mary Edna dearly loved and honored her children and their spouses, adored her grandchildren and their families. Her church family was dear to her. Her relationship with Jesus Christ, her family and friends, filled her heart with Love and Gratitude. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, December 10, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church of Myrtle Beach with Reverend Christa R. Brewer officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service in the church parlor. A private committal service will be held at a later date at her family cemetery.
