LORIS….. Mr. Maryland Johnson, age 77, of Hulls Island Road passed away Wednesday morning, October 3, 2007 at Loris Community Hospital. Mr. Johnson was born October 19, 1929 in Horry County, a son of the late George S. Johnson and the late Fodie Miller Johnson. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Buck Creek Baptist Church where he served as social chairman of the Open Fellowship Class. He was a life member of Loris Masonic Lodge #205 AFM, the Omar Shrine Temple and the Loris Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star #106 where he served as the Past Patron. He was Past President of the Myrtle Beach Shrine Club, a member of Jester Court 113 and a Scottish Rite Mason. He was predeceased by two sisters: Virginia Smith and Luttie Norris and one brother: Calvin Johnson. Survivors include: his wife of 58 years, Doris Clemons Johnson of the home, his step-mother: Emma Johnson of Loris, two sons: Johnny Johnson and his wife Freda of Kingwood, Texas, and Jan Johnson and his wife Gayle of Loris, one daughter: Judy Johnson of Loris, one brother: Bobby Johnson and his wife Betty of Loris, five sisters: Velma Mixon and her husband Simeon of Loris, Eunice Cox and Myrtle Holmes, both of Loris, Alceon Gore and her husband John of Thomasville, NC and June Rodham of Aynor, seven grandchildren: Dan Johnson and his wife Tia of North Myrtle Beach, Ryan Johnson and his wife Caroline of Houston, Texas, Austin Johnson and his wife Lori of Loris, Lindsey Johnson of Austin, Texas, Andrew Johnson of Loris, Matthew Johnson of Kingwood, Texas and Caroline Johnson of Loris, four great-grandchildren: Lexi Martin, Chase Johnson, Ashlyn Johnson and Lili Blue Johnson. A celebration of life service with Masonic Rites will be held Saturday, October 6, 2007 at 3:00 PM from the Buck Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Allen and the Rev. Don Leonard officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Buial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to: Community Missions of the Buck Creek Baptist Church, 11483 Highway 905 North, Longs, SC 29568.
