Loris... Mildred Riggins Graham, age 78, passed away Friday, June 22, 2012, at McLeod Loris. Mrs. Graham was the daughter of the late Bias Riggins and the late Eva Pierce Riggins. She was born and reared in Dothan, NC, and later moved to Loris where she graduated from the Loris Training School. Mrs. Graham continued her education at Shaw University and graduated from Kate Bitting Reynolds School of Nursing in Winston Salem, NC. She later continued her studies at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC. Mrs. Graham was a registered nurse and midwife and worked for over 40 years at the following hospitals: Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington, DC, Loris Community Hospital, and Columbus County Hospital. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Loris and former member of Bristol Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Dothan, NC. Mrs. Graham was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star of Loris. She served as a Sunday School teacher and delivered many babies in the Horry County and Columbus County areas. Mrs. Graham was devoted to her family, friends, church, and entire community. She was predeceased by her husband, L. D. Graham; four brothers, Wallace Brisco Riggins, Jestee Riggins, Clarence Odell Riggins, and James Alphonzo Riggins. Survivors include six sons, Byron Graham of Hartsville, Trenton Graham of Albany, NY, Travis Graham of Lawrenceville, GA, Reginald Graham and his wife Michelle of Little River, Ronald Graham of Tampa, FL, and Larry Graham of Loris; one daughter, Tara Graham James and her husband Eddie of Loris; two special family members, Larry Johnson and his wife Valerie of Tampa, FL, and Jimmy Jones and his wife Sharon of Loris; eight grandchildren, Talbert Greene, Eddie B. James, London James, Rashad Graham, China James, Aaron Graham, Lauren Johnson and Allison Johnson; one sister-in-law, Sally Riggins of Loris; a close friend, Elaine Dewitt of Conway; and a host of other relatives, nieces, nephews, and friends. Visitation will be Monday, June 25, 2012, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Loris Chapel. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. from First Presbyterian Church of Loris. Burial will follow in Heavenly Hills Cemetery.
