On November 12, 2022, the date of her late husband's birthday, Nannette Helen Thompson departed to her heavenly home to be reunited with Tom and to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was seventy-two years old. She was born as a surprise to her parents Helen Elizabeth Gorchinsky and Walter Michael Gorchinsky on February 16, 1950 in Quakertown, Pennsylvania. The expecting parents anticipated the birth of one child and instead welcomed Nannette and her identical twin Nancy on the same day. Nancy remained one of her closest friends and family members for the remainder of her life. Nannette and Nancy went to Catholic grade school and competed for the honor of May Flower Queen; in high school, the sisters attended technical school and were one first women to enroll in the new computer programming curriculum. Upon graduation, Nannette and Nancy worked at Central Bucks School District. Nannette later married her husband Thomas Gregory Thompson, whom she would be devoted to until his death in 2009. While pregnant with her son Gregory Timothy Thompson, Nannette attended LaSalle University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and graduated in 1985 with a degree in computer programming. She was employed by Lockheed Martin, Leeds and Northrup, and Computer Sciences Corp. and was one of the programmers that designed software for the P3 plane. When her husband retired from Philadelphia Electric, Nannette and her family moved to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where she worked part-time at St. Andrew Catholic School and AVX. She devoted much of her life to being a mother to Gregory and measuring his allotment of daily fun and ensuring he stayed on a straight and narrow path. Later, she secured a position for her son Gregory at AVX under David Doerring, the controller of AVX and now a professor at Coastal Carolina University, helping him on his journey as an accountant. Nannette will be remembered for her fastidiousness, piousness, private nature, kindness, and her understated sense of humor. Catching a grin from her son was one of her favorite things. Above all, her family will remember her steadfast faith in God and Jesus Christ and her love of the Blessed Mother Mary. She is survived by her family, son Gregory and his wife Alicia, and her three grandchildren, Trevor, Eleanor, and Lillian, her step children Scott Thompson, Thomas Thompson (Renee), Krist Sullivan (Kevin) and Nancy’s husband John Cary and their children Jeffrey (Kirsten), Janet, and Patrick (Tara), as well as their children Owen, Elliott, Brendan, Alyson, Mady, Grace, and Emma. She is joining her late husband Thomas Gregory Thompson, her parents, and her sister Nancy Cary and brother Walter Michael Gorchnisky in heaven. A Mass will be held on December 1, 2022 at 11:00 am at St. Andrew Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Andrew Catholic Church or New Directions.
